My biggest musical influences.
The 60′s and 70′s, I believe was the best times growing up being a music lover. And with each year as technology improved, music just kept getting better and better. My biggest influences were my favorite groups. In the 60′s it was the Temptations hands down. Beginning when Dennis Edwards took over as lead singer with hits like Ball of confusion, Papa was a rolling stone, Cloud nine, Run away child, Can’t get next to you topping the charts, many a day I’d find myself in front of a mirror imitating all five members, singing their hits one after another as if I were giving a concert. Back then, I had a pretty good falsetto. I could sing all the high parts sung by Eddie Kendricks.
When it comes to the creative human spirit, there is nothing we can not do. There is no limit to what you can achieve. This is a sentiment I’ve always had and wanted to reflect this in my CD, hence the title, “Unlimited Potential”. Set your sights high, for your goals are attainable. I truly believe the solutions to prosperity lies within our talents. Its there for us to discover. Believe it. Achieve it.
Instrumentals vs. Vocals.
If you’ve listened, you know by now that all the tracks on this CD are instrumental. Therefore, I am always questioned, “where are the vocals?” I’ve been asked that so much that I titled track #9 ” Just let the music play”. That’s because I love instrumentals. I love listening to the expressions of each instrument. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing too. I love all the elements of music. Not only lead vocals, but the harmonizing backgrounds as well. But the real answer is this. At this point, I am not the greatest lyricist, but I do believe that I am far more gifted in writing musical arrangements. In future projects I will certainly collaborate for versatility, however since this is my debut, I wanted to go with my strength while keeping the budget manageable.
