After ten long years, she's back. Vintage Sade, with "Soldier of Love". Soft, relaxing rythms. Seductive melodies. Can put you in a reflective mood. This is what you would expect of Sade. My favorite is #4."Babyfather". Not exactly what you may think from the title, but a cute story line. Catchy hook line and nice touch with carribean accents in the background. However, I do wish she would have brought out the sax much more in #8 "In another time". Overall, a very nice job, Sade.

Thanks, Miko for that comment. Those few paragraghs says so much. I went back to the book and re-read it and now its highlighted. Very good to remember for myself and to incorporate when mentoring or trying to inspire others.

I loved As a Man Thinketh. That's one of my all time favorite books. There's a passage from that book that I recite at weddings and whenever people ask me to just get up and speak.
"Man is made or unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself. He also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace. By the right choice and true application of thought, man ascends to the divine perfection. By the abuse and wrong application of thought he descends below the level of the beast. Between these two extremes are all the grades of character, and man is their maker and master.
Of all the beautiful truths pertaining to the soul, none is more gladdening or fruitful of divine promise and confidence than this -- that man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny."

The entire CD is charming, relaxing. I see this setting a real nice atmoshere for a romantic dinner or a night out at a jazz club. Its Anthony Hamilton, his southern soulful vocals, in a style all his own. Seems every track settles in a nice groove which allows him to bring out his unique tone and quality. He can do without the rap verse on "Cool", ( only heard on the album version). The musical arrangements are kept simple with reliance on drum programming and acoustic piano which nicely compliments his vocal style. The title track and '''Cool" gets the most air play, but I particularly like "Her Heart", you really feel him singing from the heart, and 'Fine Again"

I would like to add Atlantic Star (Silver Shadow, If Your Heart Isn't in it, Secret Lovers), Heat Wave ( Always And Forever, Boogie Nights), The Whispers, Kool and The Gang, Stevie Wonder,Chaka Khan, Anita Baker. There are many others. Lets not forget that there were some good female groups also.

The instrumentals vs vocals topic is very interesting. There is a lot of smooth jazz music that is only instrumental. There is also a lot of smooth jazz that includes vocals. Jazzman has named a few, mainly vocal groups, that have included instrumentals. There are also many mainly instrumental groups, that have included a few vocal tracks. To name a few, the late great Grover Washington featured mostly instrumental tracks on his albums, with vocals, at times, included. Remember "Just the two of us" a mainly instrumental Grover Washington Album that included Vocals. There are many more examples: the late, Wayman Tisdale (NBA player and smooth Jazz Bass player) mainly instrumentals with a few vocals. Check out his version of Barry White's "never gonna give you up". Everette Harp did an entire instrumental remake of Marvin Gaye's vocal album "What's going on" The Genre of Jazz (including Smooth Jazz) is great to listen to be it all instrumentals, all vocals or a combination of the two. I agree with what Jazzman has said. Just let the music play.
