As a music fan, I appreciate good melodies, harmonizing backgrounds, intricate rhythms, and expressions of different instruments. These are the ingredients that are abundantly present in the music from back in the day, the 60′s, 70′s 80′s, fondly referred to by many as classic soul. From the prolific lyrics to the memorable hook lines, this music has left a legacy that musicians and music listeners of all genres to be proud of.

Earth, wind and fire at music festival

Earth, wind and fire will be appearing at the Essence music fest. this weekend, July 2-4 in New Orleans. My favorite group of all time will be along side many other top rated performers including Gladys Knight, Alicia Keys. They’re celebrating their fortieth anniversary.

Where have all the smooth jazz radio stations gone?

     In the case of CD101.9 in New York, the only smooth jazz station changed its format from smooth jazz to rock in the blink of an eye without any notice to its listeners. One day it was jazz, the next day it was rock. To my knowledge, there was never an on air explanation. I finally found out that it all came down to advertising dollars.
